Mentor Program
Mentors at Transcend Pathways are trans and nonbinary adults offering grounded, lived-experience support.
Who our mentors are
- Trans and nonbinary adults with lived experience navigating transition
- People who can offer calm, non-judgmental presence and perspective
- Folks with enough stability to hold space for someone else’s process
- Individuals who are open to training, reflection, and feedback
Mentors may be at many different points in their own journeys, but each has reached a place where they can look back and say, “I remember what it was like to be where you are.”
What mentors offer
- 1:1 virtual sessions tailored to a member’s goals and comfort level
- Support thinking through decisions, not making them for you
- Realistic, experience-based insight into various transition pathways
- Gentle accountability around goals that you name and choose
Our mentors are not required to have formal clinical training; they are guided by structured onboarding, ongoing community of practice, and clear agreements about scope and boundaries.
Mentor expectations
- Maintain confidentiality within clearly defined limits.
- Be punctual and prepared for scheduled sessions.
- Communicate clearly about availability, boundaries, and breaks.
- Participate in periodic mentor check-ins and trainings.
Support for mentors
Holding space for others is real work. Transcend aims to support mentors with:
- Orientation and onboarding materials
- Templates for communication and session planning
- Opportunities for peer consultation and debriefing
- Clear referral paths when a member needs more support than mentoring can provide
